These apartments are set in the former town council offices in the heart of the Lake District, you can expect a stay as luxurious and unique as our setting, as well as discrete and private at every turn.
Ample parking along with restaurants, shopping, cakes, coffee and some of the best breakfasts anywhere all within a short stroll.
With Lake Windermere and all its attractions such as Peter Rabbit and Cruises are a mere 3 min taxi ride. Very close to the train station and tourist offices.
It’ll be easy to sink into the comfort afforded by our glamorous accommodation, for the building itself is distinctive in its appearance. It was built originally as a gentleman’s residence in true Lake District grandeur of its day with turrets and steeples and fantastic detail in ever fibre if its being.
The property was also residence to Arthur Tucker’s family, the famous Lake District artist whose brother was actually a politician.
The comfort of your stay will expand further out from just the grounds of the property itself, for The Governance finds itself nestled in the heart of the vibrant shopping district and conservation area of the Windermere. Boasting high-quality restaurants and bars offering drinks and cuisines from all around the world, unique shops to peruse no matter your style and noted events and landmarks around the area, it’ll be impossible to find yourself at a loose end of how to enjoy yourself. But if you fancy a quiet night in enjoying all that the apartment has to offer, we recommend that too – for you can enjoy your own, fully fitted, private designer kitchen with induction hobs and granite worktops in whatever way you see fit.

Utilising both the designer home palette of Farrow and Ball colours and Cole and Son wallpapers and fabrics, it’ll be impossible to not feel at home in our spaces straight away, sinking immediately into bespoke luxury and design perfect for any occasion. We believe that curating a bedroom space to encourage the best sleep possible is an art form within itself, and therefore we have done everything possible to create a sleep space you’ll struggle to leave. With king-size beds and Egyptian cotton fabric that is light upon your skin but easy to sink into, we aim to give you restful slumbers that will be toss and turn-free.
We also provide exclusive complimentary gym, swimming pool and spa facilities for you to enjoy as you see fit too only a short drive away, so expect a stay of pure relaxation no matter your plans.
We understand the extreme value and importance of privacy and therefore ensure that the apartments are available to access through their own discrete private entrance to the rear of the building, making it easy and worry-free for you to go about your business. In keeping with the history of the building the original features of the first designer are still in place and really add to the drama of the building you can enjoy lavish designer wallpaper, cosy lighting and the feeling of being welcomed back to your home away from home. Besides the privacy you can expect to enjoy, we are also eager to help make your stay as wonderful as possible, and therefore our team will always be on hand to answer any questions or assist you in whatever way you need. From boat trips, dinner recommendations, helicopter trips or even an in-house chef, we’re eager to provide a stay you won’t be forgetting any time soon.
